LUGGAGE
At airports, bus and railway stations while waiting for transport, as well as in hotel lobbies, it is important not to lose sight of your luggage. On platforms, at bus stops and inside vehicles, keep your bags closed and in sight.
SCAMS
Card sharps. Games of chance and shell games, tarot cards readers and beggars often have fraudulent intentions. Don't let them draw you in. Fundraisers. Be aware of anyone asking for money for unfamiliar causes. Street peddlers Itinerant selling on the street without a permit is illegal. Both buying and selling are prohibited and you could be fined.
PERSONAL EFFECTS
On the street, only carry those items that are strictly necessary, and better still if you can make use of interior pockets and bags that can be closed. In parks, on terraces and at the beach, keep your personal belongings close to you and don't leave them lying around.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Pub crawls, consumption and sale of acohol. The promotion of bar crawls involving alcoholic drinks is an illegal practice. Establishments may only serve drinks to people who are 18 years old and over.
Only specifically authorized establishments can serve alcoholic drinks after midnight. The sale of drinks on the public highway is also illegal. Consuming alcohol on the public highway is not permitted.
MOVING AROUND THE CITY
When walking around, avoid bumps and collisions as they might present an opportunity to theft. On public transport carry money and documents in front or internal pockets. In a car, when driving, be wary of anybody who tries to alert you to problems with your vehicle (windscreen wipers, flat tyre, defective lights, etc.) Don't leave packages and objects in view.
